About Global Value Investors
GVI was established in November 2004 and commenced operations in February 2005 with the aim of delivering lower risk international portfolios for long term investors.
Given that focus, the GVI investment process aims to accommodate those investors whose objectives require:
- Defensive characteristics in falling markets
- Reasonable capital growth
- Steady dividend income
GVI has a clear preference for established global industrial companies that our analysis indicates:
- exhibit recurring earnings
- generate strong cashflows
- provide consistent high dividend payments to investors
- have very strong balance sheets
- have a stable and competitive business
- are trading at a price below what the GVI investment team believes to be the underlying value
Typically, the portfolio will have a P/E less than the overall market and a dividend yield greater than the market.
Our process is designed to bias the portfolio towards companies that are attractive on a risk/return basis, and in terms of the portfolio, demonstrate lower volatility than the overall market.
Focus on investment - Being part of the Treasury Group structure, it provides GVI the ability to outsource all administrative, legal, compliance and HR functions and allows the GVI investment team to focus on investment markets.
Unconstrained approach - GVI is a true-to-label active bottom-up manager. The focus on seeking to identify quality and attractively-priced businesses means that GVI does not manage clients' funds based on the weightings and constituents of traditional benchmarks like the MSCI. Portfolios are built with absolute risks in mind and not risks relative to a benchmark. In effect, the geographic or industry exposures will differ considerably from these indices and benchmarks.
